About the Letter to Future Self
There is something uniquely clarifying about writing to yourself in the future. You have to decide what matters enough to say. You have to be honest about where you are. And you have to imagine, specifically, who you want to become.
This map guides you through writing a letter to yourself one, five, or ten years from now. You reflect on where you are today, what you hope will be different, what you want to remember, and what advice you would give your future self based on what you know right now.
People who do this exercise regularly report that it creates a sense of accountability that is different from any goal-setting tool. Because you are talking to yourself, you tend to be more honest. You say the things you would not say out loud.
You can save your letter and come back to it. Reading a letter you wrote to yourself years ago is one of the most striking forms of self-reflection you can do.
