Life and Expectations

For the past few days, I haven’t been able to write anything. In the middle of this craziness, my family and I moved to a new house. It was not like anything we expected. We had plans to move slowly, when the kids were in school, with the help of friends and family, a totally different plan than what we actually had to go through…

We still don’t have TV service and internet service at the house, we still have tons of boxes in the garage and in the rooms, we’re still figuring out where things go. It’s been quite an experience!

My kids are young, so they’re easily adjustable to anything and they pick up toys and things to play with and we just find ways to keep them happy, so that has been a blessing, but what happened today is a life lesson for everyone…

You see, we had to go back to the old house to patch up some holes on the walls and paint. We of course brought the kids with us so that they can see a change of scenery and something else to do than being at home all day. Since there was no furniture or anything at the house, my oldest took things very differently than what I had hoped.

When he saw everything empty, he felt really sad, like you could tell by looking at his face that he wasn’t enjoying this. He opened up the fridge and didn’t see any food and just started crying…

It really broke my heart, but I knew that he would be ok by the time we got to the other house.

You see, he’s experiencing what many of us are experiencing right now… His plans and expectations were not met by visiting the old house. He really hoped for a better outcome. But when we got home, he was playing with the toys that he DID have.

This is happening to us all the time, but especially during the pandemic. We all had plans, places to be, things to do, work to be done, everything. This pandemic came in and changed everything that we knew and forced us to change the course.

We HAD to adapt to this new lifestyle, even if it is for a few weeks. We don’t know when or how we will resume to our everyday lives, the life that we had before this started.

But what we do have is our families, the opportunity to spend more time with them, the chance to reconnect and just stay home.

I know how hard it is right now, trust me. Between moving and keeping up with the kids, and making sure I have enough food to feed the family it is very difficult. But, I know that we will get through this and we will be able to finally open up the doors to our new life.

We have the opportunity to do something different than what we had been accustomed to do. Just take the positives and go with it. The days keep coming, the sun keeps rising. For many other people, they don’t have a choice, they’re at the hospital struggling to stay alive. So take the positives that you have and shape how your life will look like in a few weeks…

And when that happens, you will appreciate life more than ever!

I’m here to support you and I’m here help. We are all in this together!
