Being Unique and Reaching Your Goals

Being Unique and Reaching Your Goals

Why do we all look, talk and have different ways of thinking? How is it that we like different things than one another? When you look at interests in every field, whether it is entertainment, educational paths, businesses, you name it. We are all interested in different avenues, different paths and different ways of thinking.

The same applies to your personal development and in the idea of developing time and effort in yourself so that you can become a better person. Whether you want to reach your goals, figure out the next steps to take in your life, deciding on different career, being a happier person, whatever your desires might be, you too are unique and your ways of thinking are different from the ways of thinking of someone else.

As coaches, this poses a very difficult situation. Personally, I wouldn’t want to have a coaching practice where I coach everyone the same way. I understand and celebrate everyone’s unique being and everyone having different ways of adaptation and follow through. What is important, however, is that we move in the right direction to capture your biggest challenges and come up with ways to make your path as successful as possible.

How do we do that?

The answer is not easy, but it entails three basic concepts that I like to follow on my every day path. I practice what I coach in order to reach my goals and I want you to discover these process in order to reach your goals.

  1. Just Keep Swimming

This phrase might sound familiar to you, but it is about moving in the direction of where life takes you. Sometimes you are going to be caught in the “discomfort” area, you will not know if you are moving in the right direction or if you need to change the path. Planning and moving ahead is part of the path and seeing where the opportunities are will get you to the next level. Being in a state of discomfort is not necessarily a bad feeling to have. We grow the most when we confront “uncomfortable” situations, that is why just keep swimming.

  1. Stay positive

There is a famous story about a wise guy. A long time ago, he was traveling with his donkey, a candle light and his books. When he stopped at a town, he asked if he could stay the night. He went door to door, he asked everyone if they had an empty bed. He would be leaving after a few hours, right when the sun rises. There were no hotels, there was no internet so forget about looking online. He decided to camp out by the forest. During the night, his donkey left. He must have smelled something in the forest and just took off. The wise guy said, everything happens for a reason, he continued to read his books. However, all of a sudden the wind turned off the light from the candle and due to the wind he could not light it back on. The wise guy could not read anymore. He said, everything happens for a reason. He went to sleep.

The next day he saw the town trashed, people crying, it looked like a horror story. He realized that in the middle of the night, there were some thieves who decided to take everything from the town and even kill people who opposed them.

AHA! The wise man said. If the donkey would have been with me, he would have made noise and I probably would have died. If the light was on, I would probably be seen and they would have taken from me the little things that I have. By staying positive the wise man took what life gave him. He was happy, he understood there was a reason to all of his misfortunes.

Try to take the advice of the wise guy and keep moving in the right direction with the opportunities that life gives you and always stay positive, no matter what is the situation or the outcome of a specific moment.

  1. Stay alert, each and every day

One does not realize this, but there are moments in time when we tend to feel down on ourselves and we are not sure of how to wake up. Of course, we are human beings and cannot be feeling 100% happy ALL the time. Sometimes we will feel sad, however, we need to always stay alert.

By staying alert you understand your frustrations, your sorrows. By staying alert you know that you need to change the path that you are going through. An alert person is not feeling sad all the time. As soon as he or she knows and understands the circumstances of the sadness, he or she will do something to change it. Coming up with solutions or trying his or her best to keep moving forward regardless of what the situation might be. Staying alert is about picturing the light bulb in your head – always on and always moving in a positive direction.

Based on your situation, which of the three concepts will you apply?

Everyone has unique circumstances, like I said before, but everyone has the ability to change those circumstances to change your outcome. Not everyone will respond the same way to these three concepts. Changing just one habit will take at least two months, it is not easy. However, taking one step at a time and moving gradually in the right direction will put you at an advantage and will take you on a path to success.

How are you going to apply these concepts in your life? Can you think of a specific moment when you had the opportunity to change your overall outcome if you had applied any of these concepts? Let me know, comment below or send me an email at mirilenoff@knownsuccess.com.

Remember, you have the power to change your life, you have the power to improve your overall being. Reaching your goals and working on your personal development is about being YOURSELF while you understand and know that the potential for more and improvement is there. Do not be afraid, make the jump for success and appreciate the unique being that you are, applying concepts in your way to be successful.
