Who Are You When It Comes to Goal Achieving?
Who are you? Might seem a very weird question, but even a basic question can have a very complex answer. Who are you when it comes to goal setting? Are you the type of person who likes to write things down? Are you the type of person who likes to achieve goals without really thinking about them and just acting upon them?
Your actions, habits and feelings have a strong way to tell you how to reach your goal. Of course, there are many ways and techniques that will help you get to the next level, but ultimately you have the ability to go from Step A (where you are now) to Step B (where you want to end up).
How can my identity help me in goal setting?
Your identity can say many things about how you approach goal setting. Being who you are does not necessarily mean that you have to stay being that person forever. Do you enjoy being who you are? Do you appreciate the things that you have to offer? Are you confident in yourself? Some questions are yes/no answers, but others require thinking and meditation. Your self-improvement depends on you, not on anyone else.
The identity of how you carry things out tells you where you need to work on. When we mentioned perceived reality, you get an understanding of who you are and the reality that you want to reach. Your identity stays the same, but your actions and feelings towards your goal might change.
What about my personality?
Of course your personality can help you when it comes to goal setting. Your personality and the way you approach challenges and obstacles can give you an idea of how to reach your goal. For example, when it comes to organization, do you keep a physical agenda or do you like to keep your schedule on your phone? There have been many studies that show that writing things down on a piece of paper can help you reach your goal. If you already do that when it comes to keeping a schedule, then you are already ahead of the game. If you are the type of person who enjoys talking to people, then talking about your goal will definitely be an area where you might explore in order to reach your goal. This can create accountability on your end and will yield to having someone by your side who can be a partner to reach your goal.
Being who you are is unique
Changes to habits do not have to be radical, of course depends on the type of goal you are trying to reach. As long as you are improving and changing for the better, while getting closer to your goal, then definitely look for a way to find how your personality aligns with reaching your goals. Ideally, you want to be able to be the amazing person that you are and at the same time adopt those amazing habits that you already have set in your life. Celebrate your personality and celebrate your accomplishments. Your are unique and your personality can help you achieve your dreams. Go out and get it!
